Is it that time already

Holy Shit! I got an email for my 10 year highschool reunion this summer. Yikes. I almost gagged from the prospect of getting old and the prospect of what a reunion might entail. The email started..."Can you believe you are STILL cool after all these years? So much for cool, who can judge that anymore...although I'm sure there are a few peeps (no names) who still think they can." Wow, what a way to make me want to go hang out with them. I suppose it could be fun, they do provide a drunk bus and babysitters. I wouldn't mind gloating that I have no kids and have actually made it out of the state. Many of my class did make it out of the state, but while visiting the bars in RC it is terribly obvious that some of the people from highschool have spent the last ten years in the same city going to the same bars. Moving sucks, but thank goodness I'm still willing to do it.

Yah, I agree. The whole idea of high school reunion pretty much makes me queesy. Maybe it's a Stevens thing, but I pretty much have no desire to hang w/ people that would attend such an event in RC. But on the other hand, I think somebody need to brag about not having kids.

As your 10 year approaches, adjust your mind to the fact that each year slips away faster and faster. However, the key is to live well and enjoy life in the moment - as I'm sure you are doing.

I think you should come up with a fantastic story... not like those guys who were lost in the Pacific for 9 months, but a nice little, hmmm.... say you caught a bear with your bare hands. Better yet, you trapped a bare with Rainier Beer. It has been done! You could tell people to Google it.... http://www.usatoday.com/news/offbeat/2004-08-18-beer-bear_x.htm

I always laugh when I see the old 'popular' kids from my high school still wearing their letterman jackets hanging out at the mall. :D Makes up for everything, really.

Yeah, I found the high school reunion surprisingly sad, but also a method of closure. I thought I had a few things to prove, and it turned out when I got back to the town...I really didn't. And I just felt bad for ever even wanting to, given how most people's lives had turned out. That's kind of a downer note -- it is fun to see some of the people again! You'll regret it if you don't go, it's a rite of passage.
